Andy Oldenburg joined Mizzou Athletics as a Media Relations Associate in Sept. 2013 and was later named Assistant Director of Strategic Communications in June 2015. He currently serves as the department representative for the Baseball and Volleyball programs.
Oldenburg has also worked with Mizzou Women's Golf, Gymnastics, Softball, Women's Tennis and Wrestling programs since joining the department. In 2015, he led all media duties for the MAC Wrestling Championships in Columbia, Missouri, and was the third media contact for the NCAA Wrestling Championships in St. Louis. In 2016, Oldenburg led media relations efforts for the NCAA Softball Regional in Columbia and NCAA Volleyball First and Second Rounds in Mid-Missouri. Most recently, he served as the primary media contact for the 2018 SEC Softball Tournament in Columbia.
Oldenburg has been the primary media contact for a slew of impressive team performances:
- 2014-15 Wrestling: 4th place at NCAA's
- 2016-18 Softball: Three consecutive NCAA Tournaments, Super Regional in 2016
- 2015-19 Volleyball: Five consecutive NCAA Tournaments, Sweet 16s in 2016 and 2017
This marks Oldenburg’s second stint with the department after serving as a student assistant from 2006-10.
Before returning to Mizzou Athletics, Oldenburg spent three years inside several professional and collegiate sports organizations. From 2010-12, Oldenburg served as the Media Relations Coordinator for the Hannibal Cavemen Baseball Club, and in the summer of 2013 in Reno, Nevada, he was the Communications Coordinator for the Reno Aces (Arizona Diamondbacks Triple-A affiliate).
Oldenburg is a University of Missouri alum after earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2010. He later received his Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Sport & Entertainment Management from Maryville University in 2012.
Oldenburg married his wife, Lauren, in July 2017 and the two reside in Columbia, Missouri.
