Barton enters his fourth year as a bullpen catcher for Mizzou Baseball. Prior to joining the Tigers, he was a three-year All-State catcher at Helias High School in Jefferson City, Missouri, under Mizzou Baseball alum, Chris Wyrick. Barton earned three varsity letters in baseball and basketball and two varsity letters in soccer. In his 2015 senior campaign, he competed in the premier All-State game. In summer ball, Barton played for the St. Louis Gamers, aiding the team to a No. 9 national ranking by Perfect Game in 2013.
Barton was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, to parents Thayne and DeAnn. He has a twin sister, Taryne, and older sister, Taylor. Barton's father and uncle both played baseball at Northwest Missouri State. He is currently studying business management at the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri.
