Mizzou 69, Kentucky 60
Postgame Quotes
Mizzou Head Coach Cuonzo Martin

Opening statement…
“It’s a great feeling, I think it’s good for our guys. There have been some tough years. I’m more impressed with road wins like the other week. Any time you get a road win, which says something about going into another environment, that’s not easy.”

On his team’s free throw shooting…
“We spend time shooting free throws, I think it’s a confidence thing and the right guy shooting the ball. All those guys I think at that point on the floor were shooting the ball well.”

On if the game was a must-win…
“I’ve never been a part of any must wins, we just want to live to fight another day. It was more important that we protect our home court.”

Mizzou senior guard Kassius Robertson

On Cullen VanLeer’s defense…
“He’s a super smart player. I love him on the floor.”

On outsmarting Kentucky…
“We knew they were good on the offensive glass every time down, we knew we had to do a really good job boxing out and on the boards. I think we did a really good job today.”

On Kentucky’s press…
“It was rough to start. We had a few turnovers to begin with. There was just some miscommunication with some of the big guys bringing the ball up and not coming back to the ball. After we got settled, we started breaking it pretty easily. I think we did a good job after the adjustments.”

On how fun the win was…
“It was good. It was a really crazy environment. Shout out to the fans for coming out. It was a great win for the program and a great continuation of last game. We played great against Alabama and we brought it to this game. We need to do that for every game.”

Mizzou senior forward Jordan Barnett

On Mizzou’s defense…
“We were taking charges. We always seemed to be in the right spot today. It just worked out.”

On the importance of the win…
“It’s definitely a really good win, but when you look at it, it’s just another win. We’re just going to keep playing and hopefully put together a string of wins. I’m not treating this one any different just because of the name on the jersey. Every time we win, it means a lot and it’s beneficial to this team.”

Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari

Opening statement…
"We have to create shots for each other. The game’s too hard. Giving Missouri credit. They did a great job, and fought and I thought we had our chances at the start of the second half. Then we came back and did freshmen stuff. Then they go back and all of a sudden it’s a nine-point lead again. Like what just happened? Late in the timeouts. We’re not fouling here. We are fouling here. We did the opposite. We literally did the opposite.”

On his team’s performance…
“Disappointing but giving Missouri credit. They beat us. It wasn’t just what we did to ourselves- they beat us.”

Kentucky freshman forward Jarred Vanderbilt

On if Kentucky overlooked Mizzou heading into the game…
“You win some, you lose some. I wouldn’t say we overlooked them. We try to come out every game with the same mentality. Just to go out there, play hard, bring energy and just fight. Whether you win or lose, as long as you fight, we can live with that at the end of the day.”
