TEAM
- The game time kickoff temperature was 68 degrees, the coldest home opener since 2007 vs. Eastern Michigan (58).
- 15 student-athletes made their Mizzou debut in the game
OFFENSE
- Mizzou racked up a school record 815 total yards and 521 passing yards in the game, surpassing previous bests 744 total yards against Western Illinois in 2011 and 519 passing yards against Nevada in 2008.
- With seven passing touchdowns and 521 yards, junior QB Drew Lock set the school record for passing touchdowns and passing yards in a game. Previously, Mizzou QBs had eight games of five passing touchdowns. Chase Daniel had four games with five passing touchdowns from 2006-08, Maty Mauk had two from 2013-14 and Lock had two in 2016. Lock surpassed Jeff Handy’s 1992 mark of 480 passing yards in the game. Lock recorded 521 yards of total offense in the game, which is also a school record.
- Lock surpassed 5,000 career passing yards in the second quarter, becoming the eighth quarterback in program history to reach 5,000 passing yards. With 521 passing yards in the game, Lock now has 5,252 career passing yards, the seventh-most in program history.
- Sophomore RB Damarea Crockett finished the day with 202 rushing yards, becoming the first rusher in school history to record back-to-back games of 200+ rushing yards after rushing for 226 yards vs. Tennessee (Nov. 11, 2016). Crockett’s 202 yards is his fifth career game of 100+ rushing yards and second game of 200+ rushing yards.
- With two rushing touchdowns in the game, Crockett recorded his third career game with multiple rushing touchdowns. He now has 12 career rushing touchdowns.
- The dynamic duo’s history-setting day marks the first time in school history Mizzou has had a 400+ yard passer and a 200+ yard rusher in the same game in the modern era.
- Lock connected with sophomore WR Jonathan Johnson on the first play from scrimmage for a 65-yard touchdown, the first one-play scoring drive since senior WR J’Mon Moore’s 82-yard touchdown reception vs. Vanderbilt (Nov. 12, 2016). Mizzou had seven one-play scoring drives in 2016 after having just one in each of 2014 and 2015.
- Mizzou’s touchdown on the first play of scrimmage of the game marked the first time since 2007 Mizzou has scored on its first play of the game and the first time ever in the modern era Mizzou has scored on the first play of the season. Against Illinois State in 2007, Chase Daniel connected with Will Franklin for a 57-yard touchdown reception on the first play from scrimmage of the game.
- Johnson set a career high in touchdowns in a game (two), and receiving yards (116). The 116-yards receiving is the first 100-yard game of his career.
- Moore pulled in four receptions, 187 yards and two touchdowns in the game, marking his fourth-consecutive game with 130+ yards receiving and seventh overall game of 100+ yards receiving. Moore’s two receiving touchdowns mark the fourth time in his career he has pulled down multiple touchdowns in a game.
- Johnson and Moore both recorded more than 100 yards receiving, marking this the first time two Mizzou players had 100+ yards receiving since junior WR Ray Wingo and Johnson did so when the Tigers beat Eastern Michigan (Sept. 10, 2016).
- Junior TE Albert Okwuegbunam recorded his first career reception and touchdown in the game with two catches for 51 receiving yards and a third quarter touchdown.
- With a fourth quarter touchdown, senior WR Dominic Collins recorded his first career touchdown reception. Collins finished the day with two catches, 30 yards and one touchdown.
- Sophomore WR Rashad Floyd set a career high in receptions with two catches.
- Freshman RB Larry Rountree III made his Mizzou debut with 11 rushes and 41 yards and one touchdown.
- Mizzou’s 28 points scored in the second quarter is the second-most second quarter points ever, trailing only the 31 points Mizzou scored in the second quarter against Memphis in 1991.
DEFENSE
- Making his Mizzou debut, redshirt junior DT Rashad Brandon recorded his first tackle for a loss and his first sack in a Mizzou uniform. Brandon capped his debut in Black & Gold with five tackles, one sack and 2.5 tackles-for-loss.
- Freshman S Jordan Ulmer posted his first career tackle and pass breakup in his first collegiate contest. Ulmer led the team with six tackles and had one pass-breakup in the game.
- Senior CB Logan Cheadle nabbed his second career interception with a second quarter pick.
- Sophomore DB DeMarkus Acy recorded a career-high in tackles with five. Acy also recorded his first career tackle-for-loss with two TFL and first career forced fumble.
- With six tackles and two tackles-for-loss, junior LB Terez Hall matched his career high for tackles and tackles-for-loss in a game.
- Senior DE Jordan Harold tied a career high in tackles and tackles-for loss with two and one, respectively.
- Freshman DL Kobie Whiteside made one tackle in his first game as a Tiger.
- With a fourth quarter tackle, freshman DB Adam Sparks recorded his first career tackle.
SPECIAL TEAMS
- Junior P Corey Fatony had one kick of 50+ yards in the game, bringing his career total to 39 career punts of 50+ yards.
- With a 51-yard kickoff return, sophomore WR Dimetrios Mason recorded the longest kickoff return of his career. The return in the longest return since Marcus Murphy returned a kick 96 yards for a touchdown against Florida in 2014.
