Mizzou / Texas A&M Post-Game Quotes

Mizzou Men’s Basketball
Postgame Quotes
Texas A&M 60, Mizzou 43

Head Coach Kim Anderson

Opening Statement…
“I would be remised if I didn’t say that probably set the game of basketball back a long time. Certainly a disappointing performance but you have to give Texas A&M some credit. Morelos really did a good job and Hampton made some shots. We did a good job on Gilder and the two big guys. We kept them down, which is what we were trying to do. The story of the game was probably offensively. We didn’t shoot the ball well. We didn’t execute the way that we have been. The big guys changed the game inside for us, we couldn’t make shots around the basket. So it was a tough night. I feel bad for Russell (Woods) and Trevor (Glassman). Certainly Russell has been unbelievable for us the last couple of years and has really grown up as a person and has improved. Trevor has been a great guy in the locker room and on the practice floor.

On Trevor Glassman’s reaction to starting on his senior night…
“I told Trevor he was starting yesterday at practice and he was excited. It was a bad night for everybody, but I hope he’ll remember that he started in the game and made some plays. I actually think he helped us early on and I probably should have left him in more. He had great energy. I’m happy to have been able to coach a kid like him, and Russell too. I’m sorry senior night ended up like this, but I am glad I had the opportunity to watch them grow.”

Sophomore forward Kevin Puryear

On how the team felt going into the game…
“Its not one of those things that you predict. I thought we had a good warm up and had two great practices coming into today. We didn’t play bad on defense, honestly. We just didn’t make the shots. It’s just one of those days we couldn’t get the ball in the hole.”

How this game was different…
“We’ve been playing big teams all year. It’s about making the plays and we didn’t make them so we lost.”

Senior forward Russell Woods

How he approached senior night…
“I just wanted to come out and play my regular game. I wanted to get a W for everyone, not just myself, but I missed a few that I normally put in.”

His last two years at Mizzou…
“My last two years at Mizzou have been great. We have lost some games but I don’t regret anything. I’m glad to have a team and a coaching staff like Coach A. They welcomed me here and had faith in me and I love them for that.”

Texas A&M Head Coach Billy Kennedy

Opening Statement…
“It’s always good to get a road win. Our size and our guys sharing the ball and making shots were critical for us. Our defense was good, but Missouri just didn’t have good shooting. I thought our defense was good, but we were fortunate when we came in here. We played well and I’m glad to get out of her with a win.”

On Coach Kennedy’s expectations after the close game against Missouri at home...
“We didn’t get back in transition last time we played them. One, I didn’t think we played very well. They had something to do with it. But, these kids from Missouri have been fighting hard all year long and they have been in every game and at some point you have to win a game sustaining that kind of effort. We were fortunate when we came in here, we started making some shots. Gave us some confidence. I thought it just made it hard for them to fight through the adversity.”
