  • With the 59-56 win, Mizzou won its first-ever matchup against Western Kentucky, improving to 1-0 all-time against the Hilltoppers.
  • The Tigers grabbed a season-high 44 rebounds in the game, the most Mizzou has had in a contest since totaling 46 in a win over South Carolina on Feb. 16, 2016. Mizzou outrebounded the Hilltoppers 44-30, matching its best rebound margin, +14, in a game with the season-opening win over Alabama A&M (43-29) on Nov. 13.
  • Freshman guard Frankie Hughes scored in double-figures for the fifth time in his short career (7 games), scoring 18 points to lead the Tigers.
  • Hughes drained three shots from beyond the three-point arc in the game, his fifth time in seven games he has made multiple three-pointers in a game.
  • Hughes was clutch from the free throw line as well, connecting on a season-high 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.
  • Sophomore forward Kevin Puryear continued his consistent ways, scoring 12 points in the game. Puryear has scored in double-figures in five games this season and in 26-of-38 career games.
  • Sophomore guard Terrence Phillips dished out five assists in the victory over the Hilltoppers, the fifth time this season and 13th time in his career he has registered five or more assists.
  • Phillips was active on the glass, as well, snagging a season-high eight rebounds, two off his career-high of 10, set twice last season.
  • Senior forward Russell Woods scored in double-figures for the second time in his career, chipping in 10 points, while playing in a career-high 31 minutes. Woods set his career-high for minutes played for the second consecutive contest after playing 25 minutes against North Carolina Central (Nov. 28).
  • Sophomore guard Cullen VanLeer had a career-high three steals in the game, surpassing his previous high of two, set five times.
  • Freshman forward Willie Jackson grabbed five rebounds in the game, the fifth time in seven games he has had five or more rebounds.
