Mizzou / Kentucky Post-Game Notes
TEAM NOTES
- The Mizzou defense had one interception in the game to improve its season total to 11, the most in the SEC to date. The Tigers entered the week tied with Florida with 10 interceptions on the season.
- Mizzou scored touchdowns on one-play drives in the fourth quarter, first on a one-yard run from senior DT Josh Augusta (Peoria, Ill.) and second on a 57-yard touchdown reception from sophomore QB Drew Lock (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) to freshman WR Dimetrios Mason (Loganville, Ga.). This marks the third time this season Mizzou has scored touchdowns on one-play drives in a single game twice this season, doing so against Georgia (Sept. 17) and Delaware State (Sept. 24).
INDIVIDUAL OFFENSE
- Freshman WR Dimetrios Mason (Loganville, Ga.) hauled in two touchdown receptions in the game, the first two of his career. Mason scored on a 27-yard reception in the second quarter and a 57-yard reception in the fourth quarter. The fourth-quarter TD catch was the longest reception of Mason’s career.
- Mason finished the game with 101 receiving yards, his second 100-yard game of the season. The Tiger freshman recorded the ninth 100-yard receiving game of the season for Mizzou WRs.
- With the 57-yard TD pass to Mason, sophomore QB Drew Lock (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) recorded his fifth TD pass of 50 yards or more in his career and fourth of the season.
- Lock had 220 yards passing on the day to reach 2,215 yards on the season, becoming the ninth QB in progam history to reach 2,000 yards in a single-season. It was the 17th occurrence overall.
- Freshman RB Damarea Crockett (Little Rock, Ark.) had a 24-yard run in the third quarter, his fifth straight game with at least one 20+ yard run and sixth game overall this season.
- Senior TE Sean Culkin (Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.) recorded new career-highs in receptions and receiving yards with six catches for 53 yards. Culkin previously caught five passes for 46 yards at Arkansas State (Sept. 12, 2015).
- Freshman WR Jonathan Johnson (Memphis, Tenn.) rushed for 25 yards on a first-quarter carry, his longest rush of the season.
- Sophomore RB Nate Strong (East St. Louis, Ill.) matched his career long with a nine-yard rush in the fourth quarter. Strong also recorded his first career reception on a seven-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
- Senior DT Josh Augusta (Peoria, Ill.) recorded his second rushing touchdown of the season on a one-yard run in the fourth quarter. Augusta has carried the ball eight times this season out of the backfield for 13 yards and two touchdowns.
INDIVIDUAL DEFENSE
- Senior LB Donavin Newsom (St. Louis, Mo.) forced a fumble in the first quarter, the fifth forced fumble of his career and first of the season.
- Junior DE Charles Harris (Kansas City, Mo.) recorded his first career fumble recovery in the first quarter. Harris returned the fumble 15 yards to Mizzou’s 34 yard-line.
- Sophomore S Cam Hilton (St. Louis. Mo.) recorded his first career tackle for loss in the first quarter.
- Hilton finished the game with 10 tackles, a new career high, surpassing his previous high total of nine set against MTSU (Oct. 22).
- Freshman CB T.J. Warren (Conyers, Ga.) set a new season high in tackles with 10. He had previously recorded four tackles last week against MTSU (Oct. 22).
- Junior CB Logan Cheadle (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) recorded his first career interception in the second quarter. He returned the interception 13 yards to the Mizzou 21.
- Cheadle matched a career-high in tackles with three, the third time this season he has reached that mark.
- Junior LB Eric Beisel (Fenton, Mo.) set a new career high in tackles for loss with three, all coming in the second half.
- Beisel also set a new career high in tackles with five. His previous career high was four tackles, recorded twice during the 2014 season at South Carolina (Sept. 27, 2014) and against Georgia (Oct. 11, 2014).
- Senior DT Rickey Hatley (Atlanta, Texas) recorded a career high tackles with seven, supassing his previous high of six set against LSU (Oct. 1).
- Sophomore LB Brandon Lee (Indianapolis, Ind.) recorded his first career sack in the first quarter.
INDIVIDUAL SPECIAL TEAMS
- Freshman PR Jonathan Johnson (Memphis, Tenn.) returned a punt 63 yards to the Kentucky one-yard line, his longest punt return of the season, surpassing the 54-yard punt return he returned for a touchdown against Eastern Michigan (Sept. 10).
- Sophomore P Corey Fatony (Franklin, Tenn.) had three punts of 50 yards or more and one punt inside the 20-yard line, moving his career totals to 34 and 41, respectively.
- Fatony had nine punts on the day for 414 yards, averaging 46.0 yards per punt.
- Freshman K Tucker McCann (O’Fallon, Ill.) had three touchbacks in the game to improve to 35-of-48 on the season on kick offs. McCann began the day ranked ninth in the NCAA in touchback percentafe at 72.7 percent, and improved to 72.9 percent on the season with 3-of-4 touchbacks.
