Hello Volleyball Fans!
Caitlyn Vann here. Well...last week was quite interesting. Coach Paul aimed at making it one of our hardest weeks so far and I must say that between individuals, lifting, running stairs, and 24-minute Indian runs, our team was definitely exhausted by the time Friday rolled around. However, we have undoubtedly come a long way since the first week of training.
The Mizzou Baseball team met with the media on Monday to discuss the upcoming season, which will get underway on Friday. The Tigers open the 2010 campaign against Gonzaga at 2 p.m. CT on Friday in the first game of the Collegiate Cactus Classic.
After a long Friday, we are back and ready to go here Saturday morning at the Lied Recreation Center. Just like before, MUTigers.com will offer a live /sports/2015/3/19/GEN_2014010156.aspx, updating fans on all of the action here in Ames.
As you may have seen by now, Mizzou has added six games to its future football schedules over the next six years, beginning with a trip to Tempe, Ariz., to face Arizona State in 2011. In addition to a home-and-home series with the Sun Devils concluding in 2012 in Columbia, a similar series was added for Memphis in 2015-2016.
We often get questions from fans saying, "Why don't you play so-and-so?" or "Team X has an opening on their schedule - let's play them!" Mark Alnutt, Mizzou's senior associate AD for operations, says it's not that simple.
The April 3 game between Mizzou and Baylor will be televised by the Mizzou Sports Network. The game will air on MetroSports in Kansas City and FS Midwest.
Hope everyone is getting used to the new pace of 2010! I went home for winter break and had a lot of fun with my parents and friends; I haven't seen some of them for almost three years! Now I'm back to school. The first coupe days when I came back, I couldn't adjust to the time difference very well. I always woke up in the very early morning. Fortunately, we don't have practice in the first week of school. And I'm totally fine now! The classes of this semester are a little challenging for me.
Two weeks from today, the Mizzou baseball team will be on its way to Tucson, Ariz. to open up the 2010 season. As opening day gets closer, there are some notes to pass along. The season opener is set for 2 p.m. central time on Friday, Feb. 19 against Gonzaga in the Collegiate Cactus Classic.
After totaling 5,758 points en-route to the Bill Bergan Combined Events heptathlon title last week, Mizzou track and field senior Nick Adcock has found himself ranked second in the nation in the event. According to this week's USTFCCCA weekly event rankings, Adcock trails only 2008 decathlon National Champion Ashton Eaton of Oregon and he is one of only four student-athletes in the nation to have automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships at this point of the season.
His point total is the second-best total in school history, just shy of his school-record mark of 5,795. The event title also marked his first heptathlon title of the season.
