This is the first time since 1992 that Missouri is 4-0. The 1992 Tigers finished the season 15-7 and won the program's only conference championship (Big Eight).
Several Tiger gymnasts are ranked individually in the national rankings as well. In the all-around, sophomore Mary Burke (Inverness, Ill.) is seventh, senior All-American Sarah Shire (Columbia, Mo.) is tied in 27th and freshman Lauren Swankoski (Chadds Ford, Pa.) is 36th. After only one vault this season, freshman Tori Howard (Chesterfield, Mo.) is tied in 39th. On bars Burke is tied for seventh while senior Becky Scholle (Chesterfield, Mo.) is tied for 49th. Shire has the highest ranking of any Tiger with a tie for second on beam. Senior beam specialist Brooke Boehmer (Overland Park, Kan.) is tied for 50th on the event. Burke is also ranked on floor where she is tied for 28th.
It was just announced that Shire is this week's Big 12 Gymnast of the Week. It is the seventh time in her career that Shire has won the weekly award. It is also the second time in as many weeks that a Missouri gymnast has won the award. Burke was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week after the first week of competition for the first time of her career.
