Serves the Tigers as emeritus team physician, a title he received in 1991. He assisted the late Dr. James Baker starting in 1951, then succeeded him as team physician in 1977. He was a charter member of the Missouri Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame, received the NATA President's Challenge Award in 1993, and was doctor-of-the-year as selected by the Boone County Medical Society in 1989. Recently, MU announced it will name its new training facility the "Dr. Glenn L. McElroy Sports Medicine Center" following a $500,000 contribution to the project by the McElroy family.
