An accomplished athlete from the time that she lettered as a member of the boys' cross country team at Hannibal (Mo.) High School, Andrea Fischer's athletic success continues to this day. At MU, she was a four-time all-American in cross country and track, and set six school records- three of which still stand in the two-mile un (indoors), the three-mile run (indoors) and the 10,000-meter run (outdoors). An Academic all-American, she was named Phi Beta Kappa and received Big Eight Conference and NCAA post-graduate scholarships in 1985. She now excels in triathlon competition, and received all-American recognition from the USA Triathlon Federation in 1995 and '96. She's been a multi-event medalist at the Show-Me State Games, where she was named the female athlete of the games in 1996. At last year's Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, she placed third in her age group and fourth overall among amateur females She was ranked second in the nation in the 30-34 age group. She currently works as the art director of Mizzou, the official magazine of the MU Alumni Association.
