
Baseball Drops Game Two of Series to No. 25 Texas A&M

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou baseball fell to Texas A&M, 14-6, in game two of its Southeastern Conference series at Taylor Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Redshirt-freshman outfielder Donovan Jordan had a breakout performance at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, a walk and three runs scored.
Texas A&M (21-5, 4-4 SEC) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on two hits and a pair of walks. The Aggies made lefty starter Brady Kehlenbrink work, running the pitch count of the Mizzou (17-11, 1-7 SEC) starting pitcher up in the first frame for the second-consecutive day. Missouri's offense was able to bounce back with a run of its own on a one-out RBI single by Keegan Knutson, bringing Blaize Ward in to score, making it a 2-1 game.
The Aggies continued to produce at the plate, adding to their lead with seven runs in the third and two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
The Tigers showed fight in the fourth inning, adding three runs, highlighted by a two-run double to left center field off the bat of Kam Durnin that brought Donovan Jordan and Mateo Serna around to score. Durnin was able to come through again in the sixth inning with an RBI single to left field that brought Jordan home for his third RBI of the afternoon to make the score 13-5, Aggies.
Texas A&M was able to add an insurance run in the eighth with a solo homer to left field to push its lead back to nine.
Jordan came to the plate to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning and delivered his first home run as a Tiger (357 ft.) to the left field bullpen to cap off a 3-for-3 day adding a walk to make it a perfect 4-for-4 on-base. It marked the first three-hit game for the redshirt freshman from Humble, Texas, and his second multi-hit contest in just eight games played (four starts).
Dane Bjorn was strong out of the bullpen for the Tigers, throwing 1.2 hitless innings to finish the game while throwing up zeroes on the scoreboard and adding a strikeout.
NOTEBOOK
- Jordan led the offense with a 3-for-3 effort, capped by his first home run in the Black & Gold. He added a pair of singles and a walk while scoring a career-high three runs.
- Durnin stayed hot, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, three RBI and a stolen base. This marks his fifth game of the season with multiple hits. He also extended his on-base streak to 15 games and has now hit safely in four-straight games.
- Ward had a solid 2-for-5 day at the dish for his fourth multi-hit game of the season with a pair of singles, coming around to score on both, extending his on-base streak to nine games.
- With a first inning walk, Woita has now reached base safely in 23 consecutive games - which is the longest streak by a Tiger this season.
- Knutson went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and two RBI.
- Bjorn provided a solid 1.2 scoreless innings of work out of the bullpen, allowing no hits and punching out one.
- The Tigers have out-hit the Aggies 24-20 through the first two games of the series.
The Tigers return to Taylor Stadium Sunday afternoon for the series finale with the 25th-ranked Aggies. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
