COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball earned its fourth-straight run-rule victory in its 2026 home opener on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff 15-1 in seven innings at Taylor Stadium. Freshman RHP JD Dohrmann (6.0 IP) and Dane Bjorn (1.0 IP) combined for a one-hitter as the bats stayed red hot.
After a slow start, Mizzou (6-2, 0-0 SEC) brought 11 batters to the plate, with five of them coming in to score in the third inning to take a 5-1 lead. Freshman Blaize Ward got things started with a double to deep center field, followed by a single to left field by Isaiah Frost. A couple of bases-loaded walks from Pierre Seals and Sam Parker brought Ward and Frost home giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead. With the bases still loaded, Mateo Serna extended the lead with an RBI groundout that scored Tyler Macon. Third baseman Chris Patterson kept things going, reaching on an RBI fielder's choice, scoring Seals. The final run of the inning came on an RBI single to right field by shortstop Eric Maisonet that scored Parker.
In the fifth inning, Serna led off the inning with a 407-foot solo-shot to right field for his first home run of the year, extending the Tigers' lead to 6-1.
The Mizzou offense busted the game wide open in the sixth, putting nine more runs on the board to swell the lead to 15-1 and put the game in run-rule territory. Following his home run in the fifth, Serna came up to bat with the bases loaded and hit a two-run single to center field that brought Macon and Seals home. With the Tigers already up 8-1 and runners on first and second, Jase Woita slugged a three-run homer just inside of the right-field foul pole for his third home run of the season. A few walks and a hit-by-pitch loaded the bases again, allowing the red-hot Macon to knock in two more runs with a single to left field.
Freshman right-hander JD Dohrmann had another strong outing in his second collegiate start, pitching six full innings and allowing just one run on one hit, racking up five strikeouts. With Dohrmann going 6.0 innings, it extended the streak to eight-straight games of at least five innings of work from Missouri's starting pitchers. Dohrmann retired 13 straight Lions (4-5, 0-0 SWAC) from the end of the first inning until walking a man with two outs in the fifth. He responded by sitting the Lions down in order in his final inning of work.
Righty Dane Bjorn entered the game in relief for the Tigers in the seventh to close things out, going one inning and allowing no runs on no hits with one strikeout.
