
Luke Nebrich Sets School Record on Fifth Day of SEC Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Swimming and diving finished their fifth day of competition with a record-breaking performance at the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships in Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
Lexington, North Carolina, product Luke Nebrich broke his own school record in the men's 50 freestyle. Nebrich touched the wall in 18.74 in the A final to break his previous record of 18.75 set at the Mizzou Invitational on Nov. 20, 2025. The record-breaking swim landed Nebrich in fourth against SEC competition.
Two other Tigers swam in the 50 freestyle finals. Francois Malherbe finished 21st on the men's side with a time of 19.49. For the women, Katie Kuehn raced a 22.41 to finish 20th in the conference.
Men's diving wrapped up their outing at the Championships with two consolation final finishes. Junior Tanner Braunton earned a mark of 396.25 in men's platform diving. Derek Colbert also put up an impressive score of 357.80 to finish 11th in the event.
The Tiger breaststrokers continued to be strong during Friday's competition. Karolina Bank competed in her second breaststroke final of the meet. The senior finished the women's 200 breast in a personal-best time of 2:10.07 to come in 10th. For the men, Matthew Mortenson finished in 1:55.98 to claim 23rd place.
Mizzou finished the day with the women's 200 free relay. Kuehn, Francesca Smith, Paige Striley and Bank took an eighth place finish in 1:28.92.
