Mizzou Soccer Falls at No. 15 Memphis, 2-1

Missouri recorded 10 shots, three on target.

Mizzou soccer dropped its game at No. 15 Memphis, 2-1, on Thursday evening at Billy J. Murphy Athletics Complex.

Mia Yang scored Missouri's (1-2-1) goal in the 41st minute, marking the first of her career. Landis Canada perfectly placed a free kick toward the penalty box, allowing Yang to direct her header toward the bottom left corner and into the back of the net.

The game remained tied for the following 29 minutes until Memphis (5-0-0) scored on its ninth of 14 shots, including five on goal. Goalkeeper Kate Phillips finished with a pair of saves.

The first shot on goal of the evening went to Memphis, which found the back of the net in the 26th minute.

Less than a minute later, Emily Derucki recorded Mizzou's opening shot of the night, which was blocked by a Memphis defender and deflected far right. Following Yang's goal, the teams were tied, 1-1, heading into the locker room at halftime.

Missouri came out in the second half firing, recording four shots in the first 20 minutes. Following a Memphis turnover, Derucki recovered the ball and put a left-footed shot on target from about 15 yards out, which was stopped by the opposing goaltender. The sophomore forward finished with three shot attempts, her final of which sailed just over the top of the crossbar.

Keegan Good followed it up in the 58th minute with an on-target shot, curving around Memphis defenders before being saved.

After the second Memphis goal in the 71st minute, Mizzou's final shot attempt came by Morgan Meador, which was blocked.
