
Softball Falls to No. 24 Georgia Friday on Senior Day

COLUMBIA Mo. – Freshman shortstop Madison Uptegrove accounted for both of University of Missouri softball's runs as the Tigers fell to No. 24 Georgia, 4-2, on Senior Day Friday at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
With the loss, MU moves to 24-30 on the season and 5-18 in SEC play. Georgia improves to 30-18 overall and 7-15 in conference play.
Mizzou and UGA will face off in the rubber match Saturday at 1 p.m., CT
Following an infield RBI single by the Dogs in the opening inning, Uptegrove leveled the contest with a solo blast to right field in the second.
The home run marked the fourth of the season for Uptegrove, a Columbia, Missouri, native.
Georgia then pulled ahead in the fourth inning on consecutive RBI singles.
Uptegrove would trim the deficit to one, 3-2, scoring on a passed ball in the fourth before the Dogs knotted the weekend SEC series at 1-1.
She finished 1-for-2 with two runs, a homer and a walk. Uptegrove has now reached base safely in three-straight games.
Junior Taylor Pannell was assessed the loss (5-9) Friday. She had three strikeouts and allowed three earned runs on eight hits over six innings in the start.
Senior Jayci Kruse came on in relief in the seventh for her eighth appearance of the season. The Coto de Caza, California, native, allowed just one hit over the final inning.
Madison Walker extended her hitting streak to eight games Friday. She also earned a walk.
Freshman Abbie Wilhelm registered her second-straight career hit in her second consecutive start of the series.
Senior Taylor Ebbs posted a walk to push her reached base streak to 11 games.
Julia Crenshaw drew a pair of walks and now ranks tied for seventh in a Mizzou single-season with 37.
Mizzou celebrated the careers of seniors Taylor Ebbs, Julia Crenshaw, Mya Dodge, Kara Daly and Jayci Kruse following the game Friday. Prior to the game, the group of seniors all caught ceremonial first pitches from their parents.

- The Tigers will wrap up its final regular-season series with No. 24 Georgia Saturday at Mizzou Softball Stadium. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., CT on SEC Network+.
- Saturday's regular-season finale is a Summer Bash. There will be Inflatables in the Berm. Fans in attendance will receive ice cream, while supplies last. The Tigers will sign postgame autographs and kids can run the bases sponsored by Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance featuring Hometown Tiger Taylor Pannell.
