
Back-to-Back Jacks Power Softball Past No. 24 Georgia

COLUMBIA Mo. – Mya Dodge and Abbie Wilhelm connected on back-to-back home runs to power University of Missouri softball past No. 24 Georgia, 4-2, in the series opener Thursday at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
With the win, Missouri improves to 24-29 on the season and 5-17 in SEC play. Georgia falls to 29-18 overall and 6-15 in league competition.
Mizzou's win Thursday marked its eighth top-25 victory of the season.
Trailing 2-1 in the sixth, Dodge and Wilhelm combined for back-to-back jacks to pull the Tigers ahead.
Dodge, a senior from Hiawatha, Iowa, blasted a two-run pinch-hit homer to make the score, 3-2. The home run marked the second of the season for Dodge and the 36th in her collegiate career.
She notched her second multi-RBI game of the season Thursday. The pinch hit home run was Mizzou's first since Megan Moll tallied one against Georgia on April 15, 2022.
Wilhelm, a freshman from Lee's Summit, Missouri, followed suit with her first collegiate hit, a solo blast to right center. She made her second career start at second base Thursday.
It marked the first back-to-back home run game for MU since All-American Alex Honnold, who was in attendance Thursday, and Julia Crenshaw completed the feat against BYU on Feb. 23, 2023.
Mizzou opened the scoring Thursday with an RBI sacrifice fly from senior Kara Daly in the first.
The Bulldogs responded with a pair of solo home runs in the second and sixth from Lyndi Rae Davis and Jaydyn Goodwin, respectively.
Marissa McCann picked up the win in the circle to improve to 10-11 in 2025 (3-7 in SEC). She registered a career-best matching seven strikeouts (second time in 2025), allowing just two earned runs on six hits over six innings.
NCAA Division I active career saves leader Taylor Pannell closed out the seventh with a pair of strikeouts for her 23rd career save (second in 2025).
Madison Walker extended her hitting streak to seven games.
Taylor Ebbs pushed her reached base streak to 10 games with a walk Thursday.

- The Tigers will next play game two of its series against No. 24 Georgia Friday at Mizzou Softball Stadium. First pitch is set for 5 p.m., CT on SEC Network+.
- Mizzou will recognize its five seniors in Taylor Ebbs, Mya Dodge, Jayci Kruse, Kara Daly and Julia Crenshaw following the game. First pitch will feature the Tiger seniors catching ceremonial first pitches from both of their parents. Mizzou gymnastics will be signing autographs on the Berm throughout the game.
- Saturday's regular-season finale at 1 p.m., CT is a Summer Bash. There will be inflatables along with postgame autographs and kids can run the bases courtesy of Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance.
