COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri football was back in action Saturday for its second official spring practice.
During the two-hour session at Stephens Indoor Facility, the Tigers worked out in helmets and focused on positional drills and special teams. After practice Mizzou head coach Eliah Drinkwitz, graduate student safety Daylan Carnell and junior wide receiver Joshua Manning met with members of the media to discuss the beginning of spring ball.
"This is a new group and there is a new energy," Drinkwitz said post-practice. "There is competition going on. The quarterbacks, the linebackers and so there is still a freshness. Spring is all about individual players development. It's all about their growth. Not to put too much pressure on themselves to come out here. I told them today should be the worst you are as a Missouri football player because it's your first day and you're unsure of everything. From this point on, it's about growing and getting better and I'm confident all these guys will do that."

MU returns to the practice field for its third spring workout on Tuesday.
"I've challenged everybody to not be comfortable and not be complacent," Drinkwitz added. "Complacency will kill our team and being comfortable will kill our ability to win and so we've pushed our guys. That's why there are open competitions at a lot of positions."
