The national champion is the fourth Tiger to earn SEC Freshman of the Year in track and field.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri track and field's national champion triple jumper Jonathan Seremes was named the Southeastern Conference Indoor Freshman Field Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Paris, France, native, is the fourth Tiger to win the award, all on the men's side, and the second individual to win the award over the indoor season. He joins 2013 indoor winner Markesh Woodson, 2016 outdoor track winner Kahmari Montgomery and 2017 outdoor field winner Ja'Mari Ward.
Seremes became the program's first national champion in triple jump on Saturday with a personal-best result of 17.04m (55-11) in his final attempt, leading the men's team to finish 23rd overall at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Virginia Beach Sports Center. He is the first collegiate indoor triple jumper to record a result of 17m or better since March 11, 2023. His final jump (of 17.04m) broke his program record.
His win marked the fourth time Mizzou has won a national title at the NCAA Indoor Championships on the men's side. Seremes joined Robin Lingle (1,000-yard run, 1965), the 1974 Distance Medley Relay team and Derrick Peterson (800m, 1999) as Mizzou's NCAA indoor champions on the men's side.
Seremes locked up first place following the fourth round at the 2025 NCAA Championships, where he recorded 16.94m (55-7) to reclaim the top spot. His final jump broke his program record in the event and ended the indoor season as the best in the nation. He was named a First Team All-American with his result.
He also won the 2025 SEC Indoor triple jump championship, with a facility record mark of 16.97m (55-8.25). Seremes was named to All-SEC First Team.
Throughout the 2025 indoor season, Seremes broke the school record in triple jump three times. He finished first in all four meets he competed in.
Missouri track and field next opens its outdoor season on Friday and Saturday at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Georgia Tech at the George C. Griffin Track & Field facility in Atlanta.
