Paz and Mierl Lead Men’s Golf Day One at Myrtle Beach

Junior Virgilio Paz and freshman Trent Mierl led University of Missouri men's golf during the opening round of the General Hackler Invitational on Sunday, finishing tied for 14th in the 90-player field.
Both golfers fired a one-under 71 to lead the Tigers. The highlight of the day was Paz eagling the par-five 13th hole, while also adding three birdies on the day. Mierl, meanwhile, had a very clean scorecard, registering three birdies, including back-to-back on 15 and 16, with 13 pars and just two bogeys.
Overall, the Tigers are tied for 13th in the 16-team field at +8 but are just two strokes back of ninth. Top-ranked Auburn leads the field by four strokes with a score of -11.
Day two is set for Monday morning with the Tigers teeing off at 7:55 a.m. CT.
