Senior Mark Mitchell of the Mizzou men's basketball team collected another preseason honor as he was named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Preseason Watch List.
Mitchell is one 50 players named to the Watch List, which has been presented by the USBWA to the men's national player of the year since the 1958-59 season.
"The USBWA is excited to reveal its first Watch List for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, which honors the nation's top men's college basketball player at the conclusion of every season," said 2025-26 USBWA President Matt Norlander of CBS Sports. "Our list is stacked with proven talent, returning All-Americans and glitzy freshmen. On the whole, this could be as talented a group of players as we've seen in the past five-plus years in college hoops. The voting was done by the USBWA's 2025-26 board, and our next Watch List will publish in January."
An All-SEC selection as a junior from both the coaches and the media, Mitchell led Mizzou with 13.9 points during the 2024-25 campaign. In fact, his 13.9 points per game are the most by a returning Tiger since Marcus Denmon in 2011-12.
Mitchell also ranked second on the team with 4.7 rebounds, third with 64 assists, fifth with 32 steals and first with 25 blocks. Overall, he was one of just 14 players in the nation to total 450 points, 150 boards, 60 assists, 30 steals and 25 blocks last season.
In the season opener on Monday night, Mitchell tallied nine points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal the win over Howard.
