DETROIT – University of Missouri defensive back Jaylon Carlies was the fifth-round choice of the Indianapolis Colts with the 151st selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Carlies, projected as a linebacker in the NFL, is the second MU player to go in the fifth round today, following defensive backfield mate Kris Abrams-Draine (Pick 145 / Denver) and is the first Tiger selected by Indianapolis since 1996 and seventh all-time.
The 6-foot-3, 219 pound Carlies appeared in 48 games (40 starts) for Missouri from 2020-2023, totaling 221 tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, nine interceptions, eight pass break-ups, three forced fumbles and three sacks.
Carlies led the squad in tackles (64) and solo stops (38), while his two interceptions are tied for second in 2023. The Orlando, Fla. native contributed a takeaway with a forced fumble, a recovery or an interception in four of the Tigers' last six contests. His nine career interceptions ranks 11th on Mizzou's all-time list.
The Orlando, Florida, native led Missouri in interceptions in 2021 and 2022 and in tackles in 2022 and 2023. He also played 465 special teams snaps in his college career.
