Fischer Tallies Hat Trick as Soccer Routs Ole Miss

COLUMBIA, Mo – An offensive outburst showcased by a Milena Fischer hat trick lifted University of Missouri soccer past Ole Miss, 5-0, Thursday night at Audrey J. Walton Stadium.
The hat trick is the second in Missouri soccer history, the last being by Grace Blum on Oct. 19, 1996, against Nebraska.
The result is also Mizzou's largest win over an SEC opponent since it beat the Rebels by the same scoreline on Sept. 9, 2016.
Missouri got the game started quickly as senior Leah Selm moved the ball to Fischer, who notched the Tiger's first score of the match in the 10th minute.
Trouble came, though, when Missouri committed a foul inside their box in the 16th minute. But sophomore Kate Phillips made a diving save to her left on the goal kick, preserving the Tigers 1-0 lead.
Phillips kept the Rebels out of goal, making a diving save at the top of the net in the 34th minute, her third of the half.
Junior Keegan Good continued to pressure Ole Miss in the first half and was fouled just outside the box. Emily Derucki capitalized on a free kick with a goal in the 39th minute, her first of the year, making the score 2-0 headed into the break.
Missouri continued their momentum at the start of the second half. The Tiger's first corner kick of the night led to a junior Jessica Larson goal, her first of the season, on a Selm assist in the 47th minute. Fischer added her second goal of the night in the 49th minute, pushing the lead to 4-0.
The Tigers closed the match out as Fischer netted her third goal of the night and fifth of the year in the 82nd minute, shutting out the Rebels 5-0.
Mizzou outshot Ole Miss 18 to 11 with nine of the attempts being placed on goal.
