COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri track and field team earned eight podium finishes during day two of the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday.
Headlining the performances was a Missouri podium sweep in the discus as freshman Ames Burton launched a new personal-best throw of 54.17m / 177-8.00 to claim the top spot. The distance improved but maintained her No. 4 spot in the program's all-time event leaderboard.
In her Tiger outdoor season debut, junior Kaia Harris finished second in the event at 51.95m / 170-5.0. Harris joined Missouri in the offseason from Purdue.
Sophia Rivera rounded out the all-Tiger podium with a mark of 51.37m / 168-6.0 while, Emily Offenheiser notched fourth launching a throw of 50.30m / 165-0.0
Claudina Diaz finished first in the high jump clearing 1.79m / 5-10.50 and is now tied for seventh in program history.
On the men's side, Zachary Charles and David Buckner earned a one-two Tiger finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Charles raced to first in 55.14 seconds while Buckner crossed the line in 55.23 seconds.
NOTABLE FINISHES
- In his 2023 debut, reigning SEC Champion Mitch Weber claimed second in the discus with a mark of 55.06 / 180-8.0
- Rece Rowan earned fourth in the event at 51.88 / 170-2.0 while Jason Petko finished seventh at 45.68m / 149-10.0
- Jayson Ashford placed third in the 200-meter dash
- Alicia Burnett crossed the line fifth in the 200-meter dash
- Mira Baccile ran a time of 1:06.71 in the 400-meter hurdles
- Katherine Dudley finished the 400-meter dash in 58.55 seconds
- Marc Poland and Jacob Brunsman ran 50.50 and 50.93, respectively in the 400-meter dash
- Blake Hays posted a time of 1:57.58 in the 800-meter run

Missouri will be back in action next week at the Raleigh Relays. The three-day meet begins Thursday at 9 a.m. CT.
