Men's Basketball Unable to Halt Arkansas

Javon Pickett recorded his ninth-straight conference game in double-digits

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Despite a solid second half effort, the University of Missouri men's basketball team could not overcome a slow start in the first Tuesday evening against Arkansas, as the Razorbacks took a 76-57 road win.

In his ninth-straight conference game with double-digit scoring, senior Javon Pickett paced the Tigers with 13 points. Freshman Trevon Brazile played a season-high 26 minutes, tying a personal-best eight rebounds in addition to eight points. DaJuan Gordon also contributed 11 points with three rebounds.

TURNING POINT

After falling behind early in the contest, the Tigers found a groove in the second half. Using a 9-0 run, Missouri nearly halved the Razorback lead midway through the period. Arkansas quickly hit back-to-back three-pointers to halt the run and outscored Missouri 19-11 to end the game.

GAME NOTES

  • With his block in the first half, Trevon Brazile tied Doug Smith for fourth on the Mizzou freshman all-time single-season blocks list with 34.
  • DaJuan Gordon hit three three-pointers for the second consecutive game, and is shooting 51.8 percent from behind-the-arc in conference play.
  • All eight active Tigers logged minutes and chipped in at least three points.
  • Mizzou won the battle in the paint, 32-20, and led in bench points 15-11.
  • The Tigers' were narrowly edged in the rebounding margin, 35-32, and won the offensive glass with 10 compared to the Razorbacks seven.
