
Softball Opens 2022 Campaign at Northern Lights Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 11/12 University of Missouri softball opens up the highly-anticipated 2022 campaign in Leesburg, Fla. at the Northern Lights Invitational. The Tigers will play five games on the weekend including two matchups with Top 25 programs in No. 10/13 Virginia Tech and No. 24 Liberty.
The Tigers open play on Friday morning with a doubleheader against Penn State and UConn at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., respectively. On Saturday, Mizzou will face off with Wisconsin at 2:30 p.m. and the No. 10/13 Hokies at 5 p.m. To close out the tournament, Mizzou will take on No. 24 Liberty at 12 p.m.
The Tigers return eight of nine starters from the 2021 Super Regional team, headlined by All-American Brooke Wilmes and reigning SEC Freshman of the Year Jenna Laird. Wilmes and Laird were recognized as Preseason All-Americans by Softball America.
Sophomore Laurin Krings and junior Jordan Weber headline the Tigers in the circle. The duo combined to allow only two hits over three games in the Columbia Regional.
