
Women’s Golf Leads the Way as a Team, Individually After First Round of Johnie Imes

Five Tigers set new career-low round scores
COLUMBIA, MO. – The Tigers came out ready to defend their home course and event-title Monday as they ended the first round leading in both the team and individual categories. Mizzou's first team fired a collective 4-under 284 while the second team recorded a 17-over 305 to be tied for 9th place. The first team's 13-stroke lead was led by veteran Noelle Beijer who carded a career-best round score of a 5-under 67 to claim the top of the leaderboard.
However, Beijer wasn't the only one who wrote in a new personal record today. Mizzou as a whole had four others post new career-low 18-hole scores. Both senior Keagan Dunn and sophomore Emily Staples showcased impressive performances to end with a 2-under 70 to stand at T-3. Freshmen Hallie Kuhns shot a 1-under 71 in just her fourth collegiate round and enters tomorrow tied for sixth. Finally, sophomore Martina Munoz carded a 4-over 76 to tally her career-best round score and is tied for 25th place.
Junior Sophia Yoemans and Bri Bolden sit at T-25 and T-55 respectivley for Mizzou's first team. Yoemans carded a 4-over 76 while Bolden posted an 8-over 80.
The second team was anchored by Dunn and Munoz but also featured career debuts for freshmen Julie Huggins and Isabela Cuisana. Huggins shot a 7-over 79 to end at T-47 while Cuisana sits at T-55 after posting an 8-over 80. Red-shirt junior Olivia Sowers rounded out the second team with an 11-over 83 to stand at T-71.
Competing as an individual was freshman Kailyn Schell who birdied the last hole to finish in 75th place with a 16-over 88.
The Tigers return to action for the second-round tomorrow morning with the first Mizzou tee time at 8:45 a.m. Follow along with live results here.
