
Four Tigers Named GCAA All-American Scholars

Rory Franssen, Walker Kesterson, Jack Parker & Ross Steelman named GCAA All-American Scholars
NORMAN, Okla. – The quartet of Rory Franssen, Walker Kesterson, Jack Parker and Ross Steelman of Mizzou Men's Golf have been named 2020-21 NCAA Division l All-American Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Friday.
To be eligible an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA. In addition, they must participate in 40-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2
Second Team All-SEC performer Ross Steelman earns GCAA All-American Scholar honors after also being named to the Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll. Steelman finished tied for third at the Noblesville NCAA Regional, marking the highest individual finish by a Tiger at an NCAA Regional since 2014. Steelman led Mizzou in 2020-21 with a 70.24 scoring average to go along with one win and three top five finishes.
Franssen was named to the Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll and earned GCAA All-American Scholar honors after playing in a team-high 27 rounds this past season. Franssen registered a stroke-average of 72.85 and posted a season-best third place finish at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, shooting a 11-under 199.
Kesterson in 18 rounds this season posted a 76.22 stroke-average and posted a season low 2-over 218 at the Missouri Tiger Invitational. The Ashland, Mo. native recorded three rounds under par last season including a 70 at the Hottie at Bulls Bay.
A Columbia, Mo., native, Jack Parker played 15 rounds for the Tigers this past season owning a 73.53 stroke average. Parker shot four rounds under par with a season-best 3-under 68 at the Legends Collegiate Invitational. Last week, Parker shot a 12-under (68, 65, 72, 67) to win the 24th Missouri Stroke Play Championship.
