Mizzou Catches Fire on Day One of Tiger Invite

Four Tigers end the day in the Top-20
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Tigers put on a show in their backyard on Monday during day one at the Missouri Tiger Invitational. Head coach Mark Leroux's squad finished two strokes behind the leader as a team after two rounds, throwing down a two-round total of 16-under 560 with Columbia native Ross Steelman leading the way.
Steelman started and stayed hot throughout the day to once again headline the Tiger team scoreboard. He sank two eagles and four birdies just in the first round, matching his second-best career round score of a 7-under 65. He followed that with a 3-under 69 to end the day 10-under in second place.
Veteran Rory Franssen ended the day at T-9 after firing a pair of 1-under 71s. Close behind in T-12 is sophomore Yu-Ta Tsai whose day was highlighted by sinking an eagle in the second round, carding a 3-under 69.
Junior Tommy Boone fired back-to-back even-par scores to end in T-18. His performance was anchored by a team high nine birdies over the two rounds.
Dropping a 1-under 71 early in the day, Walker Kesterson closed out the lineup finishing 3-over in T-33.
Beyond the team score, the Tigers showcased three competing individuals. Viktor Einarsson swept the greens in the beginning of his second round with an eagle and four birdies over seven holes to post a career-best 4-under 68 score. He comes back tomorrow morning tied in 29th place overall.
Jack Parker, also playing in his hometown, wrapped up the day six over-par at T-44, while Michael Terblanche fired a 2-under 70 in the first round with five birdies, to close at T-53.
The final 18-hole round of the Missouri Tiger Invitational will be played tomorrow morning starting with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
