Quick Hits on the Tigers
- LAST TIME OUT (Feb. 7, 2021): Mizzou defeated SIU, 35-3, inside the Hearnes Center, finishing its 2021 dual season with a perfect overall and Mid-American conference record.
- Historically, the Tigers have now achieved four all-time unscathed dual seasons in program history. Three of those have occurred under head coach Brian Smith (2020-21, 2017-18 and 2014-15), while Coach Hap Whitney accomplished the other (1967-68).
- 125-pound redshirt junior Connor Brown, 165-pound freshman Keegan O'Toole and 197-pound freshman Rocky Elam all recorded bonus point victories for the Tigers against SIUE. Three Tigers added a ranked victory to their 2021 individual resumes, as 141-pound redshirt junior Allan Hart, 157-pound junior Jarret Jacques and heavyweight redshirt sophomore Zach Elam each produced big triumphs.
- Hart, Mauller, O'Toole, 174-pound redshirt sophomore Peyton Mocco and R. Elam all maintained their perfect 2021 dual records following last Sunday's bouts against the Cougars.
- This Sunday's (Feb. 14) Cowboy Challenge in Stillwater, Oklahoma, was originally scheduled to be a quad-dual between the respective programs. Now, it has transitioned into an individual bracket-style tournament. Mizzou and Oklahoma State each enter this weekend's action ranked Top-10 nationally in virtually every tournament/dual team ranking.
- The Tigers' impressive deep and talented roster continues to make national headlines, as all 10 projected starters are nationally ranked per FloWrestling, Intermat and TheOpenMat. Mizzou received the most love from TheOpenMat's latest individual rankings, as seven grapplers were tabbed Top-10 in the country.
