
No. 3 Missouri Takes Down North Dakota State In Season Opener

The Tigers tallied six bonus-point wins Thursday night in Fargo, N.D.
FARGO, N.D. — No. 3 Mizzou Wrestling started the season strong Thursday night taking down North Dakota State 37-3 at the Scheels Center in Fargo, N.D. The Tigers tallied six bonus-point victories.
Freshman Keegan O'Toole led the way in a dominating showing, taking down No. 6 Luke Weber by fall at 165 pounds. O'Toole's pin was the second of four ranked wins for the Tigers with freshman Trey Crawford beating No. 28 Kellyn March (133 pounds), freshman Rocky Elam beating No. 16 Owen Pentz (197 pounds), and redshirt sophomore Zach Elam holding on to beat U23 world team member, No. 23, Brandon Metz (285 pounds).
Top Tigers
- No. 20 Noah Surtin (125 pounds) started off the night with a pin in 4:05.
- Trey Crawford (133 pounds) logged his second career ranked victory, beating No. 28 Kellyn March 4-3. Crawford, who lost to March in January when the two teams faced off last, took the victory after being awarded a point on riding time following a 3-3 tie.
- Freshman Josh Edmond (149 pounds) stayed perfect for his career, winning against Gaven Sax in a 12-4 major decision.
- Freshman Keegan O'Toole improved to 2-0 all-time against Luke Weber. The cradle pin goes down tied as O'Toole's highest-ranked career victory (No. 6 Travis Wittlake, 3/18/21).
- Redshirt sophomore Jeremiah Kent (184 pounds) recorded a major decision in his first bout of the season, taking down Michael Nelson 14-1.
From the Bench
"We were attacking and getting some tilts and turns but we are not where I want us to be," Head coach Brian Smith said. "We can definitely improve. I am glad we get to compete again Sunday and continue to grow as a team."

The Tigers return home to face off against Northern Colorado on Sunday, Nov. 14, inside Hearnes Center. The home opener is set for 1 p.m. CT, and will not be televised.
