Mizzou Wrestling’s O’Toole Named MAC Wrestler of the Week

O'Toole knocked out conference’s first and third ranked grapplers last Saturday
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Wrestling 165-pound freshman Keegan O'Toole was named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week, announced Wednesday by the league office. It marks O'Toole's first career weekly honor and the Tigers' third total individual accolade this season.
O'Toole joins 141-pound redshirt junior Allan Hart as Tigers to garner the weekly award this 2021 campaign. Hart is a two-time winner, earning the honor on Jan. 20 and Jan. 6.

O'Toole improved to 8-0 on the season, following two victories last Saturday (Jan. 23) at the Mizzou Tri-Dual inside the Hearnes Center. The Hartland, Wisconsin, native first defeated Sean O'Dwyer (Ohio) by fall and concluded his afternoon with an impressive 5-1 decision over No. 18 Izzak Olejnik (Northern Illinois). Entering last Saturday, Olejnik and O'Dwyer were ranked the MAC's No. 1 and No. 3 respective 165-pound grapplers.
This season, O'Toole's three wins via fall are tied for first among Tiger wrestlers, joining 184-pound redshirt sophomore Jeremiah Kent. O'Toole has also tacked on three victories via technical fall, as six of his eight total triumphs have resulted in bonus points.
In the latest national individual rankings, O'Toole enters this weekend's contest at Kent State slotted as high as No. 10 in the country. He's ranked top-20 overall according to each major national wrestling media outlet, standing at No. 10 by Intermat, No. 12 by WIN Magazine, No. 15 by TheOpenMat and No. 20 by FloWrestling.
