COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Softball performed exceptionally well yet again in the classroom, recording a 3.21 cumulative grade point average over the recent fall 2020 semester. The Tigers have now surpassed a team 3.00 GPA in each of their past seven fall semesters at the University of Missouri. Additionally, Mizzou's 3.21 fall 2020 GPA marked its highest fall total since 2016.
"Throughout all the adversity that our players and this program have faced throughout this past year, we still continue to impress in the classroom, never waving from our commitment to the 'student' aspect of being a student-athlete," said Mizzou Softball head coach Larissa Anderson. "In order for us to continue to be successful on the field, we must continue to be successful in the classroom first, displaying our self-discipline, self-motivation and commitment to excellence in every aspect of our lives."
An impressive 22-of-30 Tigers exceeded an individual 3.00 GPA this past fall. Furthermore, nine student-athletes surpassed a 3.50 GPA while two Tigers finished with an unblemished 4.00 GPA.
Academic prowess is nothing new to Mizzou Softball, as it routinely has produced exemplary results in the classroom. The Tigers had eight individuals on the 2019-20 First-Year Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll and 14 student-athletes on the Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Mizzou closed out its 2019-20 academic school year with a program record 3.51 spring GPA. The Tigers have posted a 3.00-plus GPA in six consecutive spring semesters at the University of Missouri.
