COLUMBIA, S.C. – Mizzou Soccer opened the 2020 season with a 4-1 loss to South Carolina, Sunday afternoon, at Eugene E. Stone III Stadium. The loss ends a streak of eight SEC openers without a loss for the Tigers.
Mizzou struck first with a goal in the 11' minute from junior Julissa Cisneros. Cisneros drew a foul just outside of the penalty box for a free kick from roughly 20 yards out. Her shot went into the upper left corner of the goal for the early 1-0 lead.
Turning Point
Tied 1-1 entering the second half, Mizzou came back to put immediate pressure on the South Carolina backline with three shots in the first three minutes. The Gamecocks were able to withstand the attack, and they responded with three goals over the final 45 minutes for the win.
