Mizzou Tennis Drops Tight Match to Minnesota, 4-3

Wright, Abraham and Ventura win in singles play
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Mizzou Tennis dropped a tight match for the second straight day on Sunday, as the Tigers lost to Minnesota, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon in Minneapolis, Minn. Mizzou earned three singles victories on the day from junior Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.), sophomore Vivien Ábrahám (Budapest, Hungary) and freshman Elys Ventura (Auckland, New Zealand).
DOUBLES
Mizzou dropped the doubles point after falling on courts one and three. Wright and Ventura's match on court two was tied, 5-5, when the doubles point was clinched.
SINGLES
In singles play, Wright earned a victory at Mizzou's No. 1 position, as she defeated Minnesota's Dalila Said in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (7). Ábrahám recorded a victory at the No. 3 position with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win over Tiffany Huber, while Ventura won at the No. 5 position in a three-set match, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Cammy Frei.

"Although it was a tough weekend for us, I felt like we are doing a good job of giving ourselves opportunities to win matches. We got down to the wire in both matches and that is very important to keep doing moving into conference. We need to do a better job of playing the big points consistently down the stretch and having a stronger mindset when things are close and I believe some of these close ones will start going our way. A lot of credit to Memphis and Minnesota, as they were just a little better than us this weekend. We will get back to work next week and continue to build."
