The Black and Gold wrap up the indoor regular season at home
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Track and Field hosts the Missouri Collegiate Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10:45 a.m. at the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse in Columbia, Mo. The meet serves as the conclusion of the 2020 indoor regular season as the Tigers will head to College Station, Texas next week for the 2020 Indoor SEC Championships. The Tigers are back in action after a pair of meets last weekend as Mizzou sent a group of distance runners to the Iowa State Classic while a large portion of the team competed at the Tyson Invitational.
Mizzou's top weight throwers, redshirt junior Jordan McClendon (Black Jack, Mo.) and redshirt senior Patrick Kunza (Wentzville, Mo.) will both be in action on Saturday. McClendon has earned four victories this season while Kunza has totaled a pair of meet titles. McClendon currently ranks 13th in the country with a season-best mark of 21.46m (70-5).
Junior Sarah Chapman (Maidenhead, England) will hit the track in the women's 800m after moving into sixth-place all-time in the 3000m at the Iowa State Classic last weekend. In the meet that saw redshirt senior Thomas George (Gloucester, England) set the school record in the men's 5000m, Chapman finished the 3000m with a time of 9:21.89, a personal best.
The Mizzou sprints group will be highlighted on Saturday by redshirt sophomore Jayson Ashford, junior Nylo Clarke (Riverside, Mo.) and senior Caulin Graves (Kansas City, Mo.). Graves will compete in the 200m dash after setting a personal record at the Tyson Invitational last Friday. Meanwhile, Clarke and Ashford will both run the 60m dash. Clarke and Ashford both own spots on the program top-10 as they sit in fourth and ninth place all-time, respectively.
Field events begin on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. while events on the track are set to start at 11:30 a.m. For all the latest on Mizzou Track & Field, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (MizzouTFXC).
