
Mizzou Men's Golf Opens Spring Campaign in Gainesville on Saturday

The Tigers play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Mizzou Men's Golf will open its 2020 spring season in Gainesville, Fla., at the Gators Invitational presented by VyStar. The Tigers will tee off at the Mark Bostick Golf Course (Par 70, 6,701 yards) on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 7 a.m. CT and will play 36 holes on Saturday, followed by 18 holes on Sunday.
Mizzou will compete against 14 other teams in Gainesville: Coastal Carolina, Florida, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Liberty, Mississippi State, Penn State, Central Florida, North Florida, South Florida, Toledo, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and Wichita State.
Senior Rory Franssen (Inverness, Scotland) will compete in the top spot for the Tigers for the sixth consecutive tournament. He has filled the role in each tournament this season. The senior will go into his final spring season coming off a fall campaign in which he finished in the Top-25 in each of the four events he finished. Franssen is averaging 71.3 strokes per round, the lowest mark of his career.
Freshman Ross Steelman (Columbia, Mo.) closed out the fall season strong, carding a 3-under-par 213 at the Hoakalei Country Club Invitational, his third tournament in a row finishing under par. He will start in the second spot for head coach Mark Leroux in Gainesville. Steelman became the first freshman since 2012 to win a tournament, taking the title at the Prairie Club Invitational.
Making the second collegiate start in the third spot for the Tigers is Yu-Ta Tsai (Taipei, Taiwan). The freshman competed in two events during the fall season, carding three rounds under 75.
In the fourth spot for the Tigers is sophomore Tommy Boone (Plano, Texas). Boone last competed in the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate, finishing tied for 23rd in the tournament with an 8-over-par 224.
Junior Jack Parker (Columbia, Mo.) will fill the final spot in the lineup for his hometown Tigers in Gainesville. Parker competed in each of Mizzou's five tournaments in the fall season, finishing a season-best 10th at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate and carding a 1-under-par 215.
