Junior lands on all-conference team for first time
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mizzou Soccer junior Julissa Cisneros has been named to the All-SEC Second Team, the league office announced Thursday morning. Cisneros was named to the all-conference team in a vote among the league's coaches.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.
Cisneros has scored four points on the season (one goal, two assists), while starting all seven matches at forward in the season. The Moreno Valley, Calif., native has fired off a team-leading 25 shots, landing 10 on goal.
Despite seeing her goal total slip during this fall, Cisneros has continued to be a presence for the Mizzou attack. While averaging 75 minutes per match – a career high – Cisneros has created chances for her teammates while often being the target of double teams. The chances she has created for her teammates has allowed Mizzou to rank first in the conference in shots per game (16.71), third in points per game (5.71), and second in goals per game (2.14).
Mizzou is in the midst of a bounce-back season, entering the 2020 SEC Soccer Tournament with the fifth seed. The Tigers (3-2-2) earned their highest seed since 2016 and are on a four-match unbeaten streak.
Action at the conference tournament will kick off Friday night in Orange Beach, Ala. Mizzou received a first round bye and will play the winners of No. 12 Kentucky – No. 13 Florida, on Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. CT.
