COLUMBIA, Mo. — Mizzou Cross Country will conclude its season Friday at the SEC Cross Country Championships at the University Club Golf Course in Baton Rouge, La. Mizzou will run 19 athletes, 10 on the men's side and nine on the women's side. The women are scheduled to begin the 6000m race at 9:05 a.m. CT, followed by the men's 8000m race at 10 a.m. CT. The races will be televised live on SEC Network.
Leading the men's squad will be redshirt senior Kieran Wood (Cambridge, England), who is coming off of a win at the Gans Creek Classic in early October. He will be joined by juniors Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) and Marquette Wilhite (Warrensburg, Mo.), both of whom placed in the top-30 in the race last year. Of the 10 runners, seven will be freshmen competing in their first SEC Championship.
For the women, there will be six runners with prior experience at the SEC Championships. Included in the starters will be senior Sarah Chapman (Maidenhead, England), who is coming off of a win at the Gans Creek Classic in which she shattered her previous personal record.
Last season the Mizzou women finished in third place after having three runners finish in the top-30, while the Mizzou men placed seventh.
