COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 20 Mizzou gymnastics hits the road to take on No. 14 Auburn on Friday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. at Auburn Arena in Auburn, Ala.
TIGER TIDBITS
- Mizzou is ranked 20th in this week's RoadtoNationals.com national rankings (based on average score).
- The Tigers also rank 13th nationally on beam (48.975), 15th on floor (49.092), 26th on vault (48.800) and 29th on bars (48.700).
- Last time out, Missouri fell to No. 2 Florida, 196.850-195.600, on Jan. 17 at the Hearnes Center.
- Freshman Helen Hu won the bars title with a career-best 9.95, a score that tied Mizzou's program record on the event. She stands as only the fourth Tiger to ever go 9.95 on bars, joining Jodie Heinicka, Alisha Robinson and Sarah Shire, and was the first to do it since the 2010 season. The freshman also scored a 9.9 on beam against Florida.
- Hu was named SEC Co-Specialist of the Week on Tuesday for her performance against the Gators. The honor marked the second time in three weeks Hu earned weekly honors from the SEC, as she claimed Freshman of the Week accolades on Jan. 7.
- The Tigers erupted for a season-best 49.200 on bars on Jan. 17, thanks to six scores of 9.8 or better. The 49.200 was the highest bars score since the squad went 49.275 against Florida on March 2, 2018.
- Missouri's program record 16-meet stretch with a 49 or higher on floor was snapped on Jan. 17, as the team went 48.900 on the apparatus.
- The Tigers opened 2020 with a second-place showing in a tri-meet against Illinois and Southeast Missouri on Jan. 4. The Tigers scored a 195.600, just behind the Fighting Illini's 195.850 and ahead of SEMO's 191.275.
- Mizzou's event scores of 49.350 on floor and 49.200 on beam on Jan. 4 mark the highest-ever for the team on the events in a season opener. Missouri's previous best season-opening floor score was 49.325 against Iowa State on Jan. 11, 2004, while the previous high on beam was 49.175 against Illinois and Ball State on Jan. 6, 2017.
- Mizzou returns seven gymnasts from last year's team and welcomes eight newcomers to the roster.
- Head Coach Shannon Welker is in his seventh season at the helm of the Tigers. Last season, Mizzou knocked off four top 25 teams, including a win over No. 10 Kentucky and a tie with No. 7 Michigan. The Tigers also recorded the second-highest beam score in program history (49.425), the sixth (49.425) and seventh (49.400) best floor scores and the ninth-best vault total (49.275) over the course of the campaign.
LAST TIME OUT
- Freshman Helen Hu tied Mizzou's individual bars record in the Tigers' 196.850-195.600 loss to No. 2 Florida on Jan. 17 at the Hearnes Center. Hu earned a 9.95 on bars to tie the program individual record on the event and claim the bars title.
Freshman Sienna Schreiber also took home the all-around title with a 39.000.
Mizzou opened the night with a 48.650 on vault in the first rotation. Freshman Kambrie Brandt paced the team with a 9.8, which tied for second overall on the event. Junior Gabrielle Gottula went 9.75 and seniors Morgan Porter and Aspen Tucker and sophomore Hannah McCrary all went 9.7.
The Tigers erupted for a season-best 49.200 on bars thanks to all six scores at 9.8 or better. Hu anchored the lineup with her 9.95 to win her third event title of her freshman campaign. She became the fourth Tiger to ever go 9.95 on the event, joining Jodie Heinicka, Sarah Shire and Alisha Robinson (who did it twice).
Also in the rotation, Porter tallied a season-high 9.85 and Schreiber, Tucker, junior Chelsey Christensen and sophomore Alisa Sheremeta all earned 9.8s.
Hu paced the Tigers on beam as well, with a 9.9, as the squad went 48.850 overall. Hu's score was her third tally of 9.9 or better on beam in Mizzou's first three meets of 2020. Schreiber also performed well to earn a 9.8, and McCrary and Sheremeta both claimed 9.75.
Mizzou concluded the night with a 48.900 on floor, thanks to four scores of 9.8 or higher. Porter paced the team with a 9.85, while McCrary, Schreiber and Sheremeta all scored 9.8s.

- Mizzou returns to the Hearnes Center to host No. 19 Arkansas on Friday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. The meet will be televised live on SEC Network.

HU TIES BARS RECORD, NAMED SEC CO-SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK

FRESHMEN MAKING THEIR IMPACT
- Three meets into the 2020 season, Mizzou's freshmen class has made an impact
- So far, freshmen have made up 34.7 percent of the team's routines, with 25 of the 72 total coming from the class.
- Overall, the 25 routines by the freshmen led the team, followed by 19 from the senior class, 15 from the sophomore class and 13 from the junior class.
