Swimming & Diving Opens New Year Thursday at LSU

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 7/12 Mizzou swimming and diving teams open the new year with a dual against LSU on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 10 a.m. CT in Baton Rouge, La.

LAST TIME OUT

The divers last competed at the Auburn Diving Invitational in December, where the Tigers earned five top four finishes and three top three placements. Freshman Maddie Huitt won the women's platform title, while fellow freshmen Leonardo Garcia Varela and Carlo Lopez both turned in third-place finishes. Garcia Varela placed third on 3-meter and Lopez on platform. 

Mizzou's swimmers have been idle since the Mizzou Invite back in November. At the meet, the Tigers recorded four NCAA 'A' cuts and three school records, with program marks by junior Sarah Thompson (50 free), sophomore Danny Kovac (200 IM) and the women's 200 free relay. 

MIZZOU IN THE RANKINGS

The Tiger men currently rank No. 7 nationally in the CSCAA TYR Top 25 poll, while the women check in at No. 12. 

TIGERS OWN SOME OF THE NATION'S TOP TIMES

A total of 12 different Tigers own national top 25 times, including six who rank in the top 10. Leading the way is senior Haley Hynes, who currently ranks second in the 100 back (50.70).
