Mizzou Volleyball Sweeps No. 14 Michigan in Dayton Invitational Opener

Tigers’ offense dominates, hitting .507 collectively
DAYTON, Ohio – Mizzou Volleyball opened its weekend at the Dayton Invitational in style Friday morning, sweeping No. 14 Michigan (25-12, 25-13, 25-23). The Tigers' offense was simply lights out, posting 42 kills on .507 hitting. Mizzou consistently served tough as well, as five individuals contributed towards 10 total aces.
Junior Kylie Deberg couldn't be stopped on the outside, tallying 15 kills on .636 hitting. Junior Tyanna Omazic enjoyed a sensational all-around match, recording 11 kills on .529 hitting, three aces and two total blocks.
Friday morning marked Mizzou's 16th, Top 25 nationally ranked victory since joining the Southeastern Conference in 2012.

- Omazic is off to a scorching start in 2019, recording double-digit kills on .500-plus hitting in each match played.
- Deberg paced the Tigers in kills for the second consecutive match. She has 29 kills (4.14 per set) over Mizzou's opening pair of contests this season.
- Mizzou's offense jumped out to a sensational start Friday, posting 14 kills on .591 hitting. It somehow one-upped itself in set two, recording 13 additional kills on .600 hitting. The Tigers closed out the match with 15 kills on .379 hitting.
- Mizzou's collective .507 hitting percentage against Michigan was its first .500-plus hitting performance in two years (Sept. 25, 2017 vs. Middle Tennessee).

Match two of Friday's day/night doubleheader is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT against host Dayton. Mizzou concludes its weekend in Dayton Saturday (Sept. 7) afternoon with a matchup against Northern Illinois. First serve is scheduled for Noon CT. The Tigers then trek back to Mid-Missouri for their home-opening tournament next weekend (Sept. 13-15).
