
Mizzou Volleyball Claims 3-1 Win Over Dayton, Completes Friday Doubleheader Sweep

Tigers responded with dominant third and fourth sets after match evened at one
DAYTON, Ohio – Mizzou Volleyball wrapped up an impressive opening day at the Dayton Invitational with a 3-1 (25-22, 17-25, 25-16, 25-10) victory over the host Flyers. After Dayton evened the match at one apiece, the Tigers responded with a lights out third and fourth set.
In Mizzou's three set triumphs, its offense hit .433, .462 and .550, respectively. Overall on Friday across two matches inside the Frericks Center, the Tigers were phenomenal with 93 kills on .417 hitting.
Against Dayton Friday evening, junior Kylie Deberg stayed hot with a team-leading 19 kills on .375 hitting. Countless Tigers however stepped up on offense, as three additional individuals recorded seven-plus kills on .400-plus hitting.
Redshirt sophomore Andrea Fuentes once again orchestrated a beautiful Mizzou attack, tallying 38 assists versus the Flyers.

"After this morning's big win over Michigan, I knew we'd really have to refocus as a group and be prepared for Dayton. They're a very good team and it's always tough beating someone inside their home arena. I was real pleased with how we bounced back after the second set. We put our foot on the pedal in sets three and four and really executed well."

- The Tigers' collective offensive numbers Friday against No. 14 Michigan and Dayton were staggering. Overall, Mizzou recorded 13.29 kills per set on .400-plus hitting while four individuals hit .450-plus.
- Deberg particularly couldn't be stopped, producing 34 kills (4.86 per set) on .468 hitting.
- The Tiger middle blocking duo of Omazic and Caffey once again delivered, finishing with 30 kills on .489 hitting in Friday's pair of victories.

Mizzou concludes its weekend in Dayton Saturday (Sept. 7) afternoon with a matchup against Northern Illinois. First serve is scheduled for Noon CT. The Tigers then trek back to Mid-Missouri for their home-opening tournament next weekend (Sept. 13-15).
