Nash Finishes Perfect Weekend in Singles Competition at Mizzou Invite

Senior Serena Nash wins singles match to finish tournament 3-0 in singles competition
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Tennis wrapped up competition at the Mizzou Invite on Sunday, as senior Serena Nash (Bradford, England) earned a win in singles competition to cap a perfect 3-0 mark in singles play for the tournament.
The four-team invitational wrapped up with singles competitions between Mizzou and Tulsa in the morning and Houston and SMU in the afternoon.
SINGLES
Nash completed her perfect run in singles competition on Sunday, as she defeated Tulsa's Vera Ploner in a three-set back-and-forth battle, 6-3, 6-7, 12-10. Nash also earned victories over Houston's Sophie Gerits on Friday and SMU's Sarai Monarrez Yesaki on Saturday.

"Overall this weekend was a great opportunity to go out and compete against some top teams and I thought we did a good job of playing our type of tennis while also handling adversity well when things didn't go our way," said head coach Colt Gaston. "I was pleased with those improvements from last year and we will continue to build on that in practice next week. Thank you to all the fans who came out to support this weekend. It really means a lot to me and our program."
UP NEXT
Mizzou will next be in competition at the Rivera/ITA All-American Championships, which will be held Oct. 5-13 in Tulsa, Okla.
