Mizzou’s 110-man camp roster finalized
2019 Mizzou Football Fall Training Camp Roster
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The 2019 Mizzou Football season gets underway later this week, with the team set to report to campus Thursday, August 1, followed by the Tigers' first practice of fall training camp the next morning. Accordingly, Mizzou has finalized its 110-man camp roster, which is attached in this release.
In roster news, a handful of Tigers will miss training camp due to injuries. Included in that group are true freshman DB Ishmael Burdine (Slidell, La. – right shoulder) and redshirt freshman WR Khmari Thompson (Lawrenceville, Ga. – right knee). Additionally, a pair of program veterans have decided to medically retire due to injury, as senior LB Jacob Trump (Kohoka, Mo. – knee) and senior OL Jonah Dubinski (Columbia, Mo. – knee) have opted to no longer play football while finishing up their degrees. Junior DE Tre Williams (Columbia, Mo.) has been reinstated to the program, per Athletic Department procedures, and will be part of the team's training camp.
For the first time since 1996, the football program will be breaking in a new head athletic trainer. As it was announced last week that longtime trainer Rex Sharp is stepping away from his daily football duties to focus on overall physical and mental health programs for Mizzou's 550-member student-athlete body.
"Rex has poured his entire soul into the care of our student-athletes since 1996, and many years before that at other institutions," head coach Barry Odom said. "He has spent more hours in the day with our athletes than any one person can possibly do. Rex has set the standard of athletic training and will continue to provide great oversight for our program and student-athletes. I sure look forward to his assistance and providing care for our kids in his new role."
Taking over head athletic training duties is Kyle Blecha, who spent the previous five years as Coordinator of Sports Medicine with the Missouri Orthopedic Institute, after serving 14 seasons at Western Michigan University as the Broncos' head football trainer. A graduate of Fresno State University (1993), Blecha received his master's degree in health and exercise science from Mizzou in 1995, and worked during that time as a graduate assistant trainer with the Mizzou Sports Medicine team.
Mizzou will enter the 2019 season coming off consecutive winning campaigns, and the Tigers will begin the year at Wyoming (Aug. 31), before a five-game home stand begins Sept. 7 against West Virginia. Tickets are on sale for the 2019 schedule, which will feature seven home contests in all.
