Fresh off becoming Mizzou's ninth-ever first round selection in a Major League Baseball Draft, Sikkema turned in one of the nation's top pitching performances in 2019. The Dewitt, Iowa, native was sensational in his junior campaign, posting a 1.32 ERA over 88.2 innings pitched with 101 strikeouts.
As of June 7 and the collegiate baseball world continuing NCAA Tournament play, Sikkema's 1.32 ERA ranks third-best in the nation. Additionally, his 5.48 hits allowed per nine innings pitched ranks eighth, 0.96 WHIP ranks 22nd and 101 punch outs ranks 65th.
In late May, Sikkema was named a 2019 NCAA Division I Third Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball. He became the first Tiger to receive First, Second or Third Team All-America accolades in 10 years. Historically, the Tiger lefty is the program's 34th all-time All-America recipient.
The national accolades have poured in all season for Sikkema, as he was also named Second Team All-SEC and a 2019 Golden Spikes Award semifinalist last month.
