Dewitt, Iowa, native receives second All-American nod this year
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball junior LHP TJ Sikkema was named a 2019 Baseball America Second Team All-American, announced Monday by the national outlet. Baseball America designated a 16-man First Team, 17-man Second Team and 17-man Third Team All-American squads this year.
Monday's recognition marks Sikkema's second All-America nod this season, joining his Third Team honors by Collegiate Baseball on May 30. The Tiger lefty is the program's first individual to receive First, Second or Third Team All-America accolades in 10 years.

The postseason awards haven't stopped for Sikkema, beginning with his Second Team All-SEC recognition on May 20. Following the aforementioned All-America award by Collegiate Baseball, the Dewitt, Iowa, native was selected in the First Round (38th overall) of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Yankees on June 3.
Most recently, Sikkema was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) District 6 Player of the Year on June 7.
Sikkema was simply magnificent in his 2019 junior campaign at Mizzou, going 7-4 with a 1.32 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 88.2 innings pitched. For his three-year career in Columbia, Missouri, Sikkema's 258 strikeouts ranks sixth in program history.
The Tiger southpaw posted an incredible five, 10-plus strikeout performances this season, including double-digit punch outs in his final four home starts at Taylor Stadium. All four of those outings occurred in Southeastern Conference play, highlighted by a career-high 11 strikeouts against Kentucky on April 7.
