Gators escape Mid-Missouri with their second one-run win of the series
COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 21 Mizzou Baseball (34-21-1, 13-16-1 SEC) once again saw a late-inning comeback fall short Saturday, as Florida escaped Taylor Stadium with a 4-3 victory in the teams' 2019 regular season finale.
The visiting Gators built an early 3-0 advantage after three innings of play. The Tiger offense finally woke up in the seventh inning after a seven minute rain delay, scoring three runs on four hits. Florida quickly regained its lead with an RBI double in the top half of the eighth inning, proving to be the game-winning run.

Hear From Head Coach Steve Bieser
On the disappointing series finale and three-game set as a whole…
"It just wasn't typical Mizzou Baseball. We failed because we couldn't execute. That was something we could consistently do in the games we've won this year. For whatever reason we weren't able to execute a few small things this series."
#MIZ Takeaways
- Mizzou concludes its 2019 regular season with a 21-6 record at Taylor Stadium.
- Ortiz wrapped up his career at home with a bang, producing a career-high four hits at the plate.
- The four hits matched the Tigers' single-game high this season by an individual, as Ortiz joined sophomore C Chad McDaniel and Cornelius' four-hit efforts earlier in the year.
- Dulle was fantastic in relief Saturday, righting the ship after the team's shaky start. His 5.1 innings pitched breezed past his previous single-game career-high of 3.2 frames. Additionally, his five strikeouts against the Gators matched his single-game career-best.
- Freshman RHP Tommy Springer made his SEC debut Saturday, tossing 0.1 scoreless innings in relief. His previous 11 appearances this year all occurred in non-conference play.
- Cornelius continued his strong junior campaign with his team-leading 23rd multi-hit game of the year.
Up Next
- Postseason play begins next Tuesday (May 21) for Mizzou, as it travels south to Hoover, Alabama, for the 2019 Southeastern Conference Tournament.
- The Tigers will compete in a single-elimination bracket to begin play. With a victory they would then advance to a double-elimination bracket starting Wednesday (May 22).
