COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Division of Inclusion, Diversity & Equity has again partnered with Mizzou Athletics to encourage the Mizzou and mid-Missouri community to participate in the "Inclusive Excellence Mile Run" from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 4. The purpose of this event is to serve as a rallying cry for the entire campus and local community. This year's event is FREE to all.
The Inclusive Excellence Mile Run is part of the University of Missouri's commitment to the Inclusive Excellence Framework, which is designed to help our campus and local communities integrate diversity efforts into core organizational functions. The goal is to serve as an entry point to greater dialogue and discussions between student organizations, faculty, staff and local affiliations. Ultimately, just by showing up and walking, jogging, or running a mile, participants are expressing their commitment to fostering a community where everyone feels welcomed, valued and respected.
The Inclusive Excellence Mile run will take place on Mizzou's campus, starting at 10 a.m. on Tiger Plaza. Participants should register at GetMeRegistered.com/InclusiveExcellenceMile. The race is FREE for those in the non-timed division and timed division participants will pay just $2.50. Awards will be handed out to the top three finishers in 11 different age groups.
The race will end near Stankowski Field, where there will be food and post-race activities including bounce houses, face painting, pictures, music, and Mizzou Athletics staff and student-athletes from all sports.
