COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou gymnastics senior Brooke Kelly (Birmingham, Ala.) earned a berth to the 2019 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships as individual qualifier following her performance at the 2019 NCAA Athens Regional on April 5. Kelly, who qualified on beam, will compete during the first semifinal session on Friday, April 19 at Noon CT at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas. She will compete following LSU on beam in the first rotation.
Kelly earned her individual berth as the highest beam scorer not on a qualifying team from the Athens Regional second round. Her 9.875 on the apparatus was also matched by two other non-qualifying individuals, but Kelly claimed the beam spot on the second tiebreaker, which was highest head judge score.
A senior, Kelly has competed in 49 meets in her Tiger career, including 45 times in the beam lineup. She owns a career-high of 9.925 on the event, which she has accomplished three times in her career, twice in 2018 and once during the 2017 season. This year, Kelly owns season-bests of 9.875 on beam and 9.825 on bars, both set at the NCAA Athens Regional on Friday.
Kelly is the 10th Tiger to earn an individual qualification to the NCAA Championships in program history, and the first since current redshirt junior Morgan Porter (Overland, Mo). earned a berth as an all-arounder as a freshman in 2016.
